Installation of IMTA modules in Albania

ACEPSD and Alb-Adriatico 2013 have installed a new integrated multi-trophic aquaculture modules

      (Vlora Bay, Albania | July/August, 2025)

During July and August, ACEPSD staff members, together with the representatives of Alb-Adriatico 2013, worked intensively on modifications to the aquaculture production system to retrofit the site for Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) modules.

Bivalves (pearl oyster and Mediterranean mussel) and sea cucumbers were measured by ACEPSD staff and then placed into separate baskets, which were then installed in the cages for each of the cultivated fish species: gilthead seabream and European seabass.

With the installation completed, the site is now prepared to test the IMTA modules, and promising results are expected in the coming months.
