The first day of the SC meeting took place in Montpellier and was chaired by PMM and IFREMER, the two French partners of the 2B-BLUE project. The session focused on reviewing the progress of Work Packages (WPs), the status of Demonstration Sites (DS), and strategic tools such as the MedBBHub repository and the Good Practices Calculator. Additional discussions included the CO₂ Monitoring Calculator, WP3 coordination, and planning for upcoming events and T-Labs. The meeting gathered both on-site and remote participants.

Rigers Bakiu (ACEPDS): The DSite is progressing on schedule. The EoI was launched, the selection process was completed, and the company ALBA Adriatico was chosen. Pilot actions will focus on collaboration with this company in the Bay of Vlora, specifically in relation to IMTA (Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture)
The second day featured a field visit to IFREMER’s marine research facilities in Palavas-les-Flots, led by the host institutions. 2B-BLUE partners engaged in guided tours and technical presentations on sustainable aquaculture presented by IFREMER staff. The visit provided valuable insights and promoted further collaboration between institutions and pilot site coordinators within the 2B-BLUE framework.
On 28 May, 2B-BLUE partners visited IFREMER’s marine research facilities in Palavas-les-Flots. The visit began with a presentation on the institution’s structure, ongoing projects, and research infrastructure. Attendees then toured various experimental aquaculture systems, including longterm fish stock held for over 15 years and seacucumber cultivation facilities. Particular attention was given to IFREMER’s world-unique holothurian (seacucumber) cultivation program.
Researchers showcased advanced techniques in marine reproduction and sustainable aquaculture innovation.
The visit offered valuable insights into applied marine science and its potential relevance to 2B-BLUE. IFREMER expressed openness to future collaboration with the project and other Mediterranean stakeholders
